CRICKET REPORT: PNBHS 1ST XI VS Marist CC – 28/11/20
Winning a good toss, Curtis Heaphy inserted the opposition on an underprepared pitch which had been covered for 3 days. This proved to be a good decision, as they slumped to 11 for 2 in the 3rd over, with the ball popping and seaming. The 1st XI kept the pressure up, with good bowling and fielding making scoring difficult. This pressure translated into wickets and a steady procession of batsmen made their way to the crease until Marist succumbed in the 47th over to be all out for 105. All the PNBHS bowlers were effective and the wickets were shared, but most successful were Mr Davidson with 2 for 8 and Bayley Latter with 4 for 21.
The nature of the wicket made the Boys’ High batsmen necessarily circumspect, but they manoeuvred the ball well and took their opportunities when they arose. Some useful partnerships were created and the 1st XI secured victory in the 38th over to pass the Marist score with 2 wickets down. Lachie Bradford made 21, Curtis Heaphy 29 not out and Jaiden Meyer 39 not out in a comfortable 8-wicket win.
This win secures PNBHS a spot in the semi-finals.
