CRICKET REPORT: PNBHS 1ST XI VS Freyberg CC – 05/12/20
After winning the toss, captain Jonty Fleck asked Freyberg to bat first and his bowlers responded well, keeping their batsmen quiet. The opposition struggled to 32 for 3 in the 18th over before they were able to put together some partnerships. The PNBHS bowlers continued to apply pressure, keeping them to 167 all out in the 45th over. Jett Donald-Charnley took 2 for 23, Regan Fleming 3 for 40 and Jonty Fleck 3 for 22.
The Boys’ High chase got off to an unfortunate start, losing 2 wickets in the first over. This was a setback which required some rebuilding from numbers 3 and 4 who responded with a partnership of 34. Unfortunately, Jonty Fleck fell victim to a “roughie”, and this led to some quick wickets, putting the batting under pressure again. The lower order fought manfully but their efforts only managed to take the team to 113 before succumbing to be all out in the 32nd over. Jaiden Meyer scored 24 and Jett Donald-Charnley 27.
A loss by 54, then. But the result does not affect the line-up for the semi-finals as the same 2 teams meet next Saturday.
