3rd XI Cricket v Feilding

The 3rd XI played Feilding on a very windy Ongley Park. With the chance of rain in the forecast the 3rds elected to have a bowl. Scoring was slow but wickets were hard to come by with the first falling in the 11th over. 2 more fell before drinks with score 64-3. Feilding were positive after the break, but a catch was quickly followed by a stumping then a direct hit runout and 122-4 was soon 124-7. The 40 overs came up with only some light rain and Feilding were 165-9. Thomas Fowell 2-22, Logan Watkins 2-27 and Ethan Robinson 2-33.

The 3rds made a steady start with a 36 run opening partnership. A few more showers were starting to develop with the 3rds needing to bat 20 overs before Duckworth-Lewis and Stern could have their say. The 3rds were on top at 74-1 at Drinks with it now officially a match. The drizzle continued as Van Prenter brought up his 50, then went up another gear and punished the Feilding attack who were struggling to hold the slippery ball. After 27 overs the Feilding captain conceded with the 3rds almost 40 runs ahead of the DLS par score. The rain then got even heavier but the 3rds were comfortably ahead at 129-2. Van Prenter 69*, Michael Watkins 23.
