PNBHS 1st XI Cricket VS Napier Boys’ 1st XI – 3 Day Challenge Shield Defence – Day 1
Captain, Jonty Fleck, lost the toss and PNBHS was asked to field first. It was an auspicious start as a wicket fell off the first ball of the second over. This was soon followed by another in the 7th. 6 for 2 meant that the Napier batsmen dug in and scoring became secondary as they fought for survival. This trend continued throughout the day, with the PNBHS bowlers having to “winkle” successive batsmen out while the score dribbled along. At the end of the day, NBHS were on 147 for 9 from 91.4 overs. The PNBHS bowlers were all economical, but Aadesh Ganugapati was the pick, with the astounding figures of 15.4 overs, 4 wickets for 8 runs.
