NZCT Colts Cricket v Rathkeale Colts - Wednesday 3 March 2021

The PNBHS NZCT Colts Cricket team played their first game in the national knockout competition.  The team is a combined team taken from both the 3rd and 4th Specials sides.  Their first game was against Rathkeale Colts at Rathkeale.

PNBHS captain, Hugo Abdat, won the toss and chose to bat first on a well-used pitch.  Things happened in a hurry in the first ten overs as there were regular boundaries and regular wickets falling and at 47/5 the innings was teetering on disaster.  In strode captain Hugo Abdat who in combination with Matthew Campbell resurrected the innings by putting on 92 for the 6th wicket.  Hugo was brutal on anything short as he struck 8 boundaries in scoring 54 off 55 deliveries.  Matthew contributing 33 runs by regularly finding gaps and running hard.  With these two batsmen falling in quick succession, Sheraz Bhali helped the tail wag with an assured 33 not out.  PNBHS ending with 209/9 off their 40 overs.

Rathkeale made a solid beginning against some accurate PNBHS bowling and at 54/1, Rathkeale were set to give the chase a good crack.  A couple of key breakthroughs exposed a wobbly middle and lower order as Rathkeale collapsed to be 84 all out.

Jack Trotter was the chief destroyer taking 5-13 and Riley Murphy was able to take 2-15.

A win to PNBHS by 125 runs.  The next elimination match is against Napier BHS on Friday.
