Wednesdays nights game in the Men's Premier League, we intended to give all 12 boys a decent run so they could each focus on the three main goals Terry and Sonny had for them:

-To try things and be decisive with your decision. It is better to make a mistake trying something with purpose and reflect on the outcome than make a mistake as a result of lack of thought.
-If you are in a position to take the shot, then take it. Don't pass off an opportunity.
-Be strong in defense. Make your presence felt by denying the opposition space.

The first quarter felt very flat - the energy wasn't there, but that was in part the type of game it was going to be. Our starting 5 set out to score early on. Some great shots were put up, not all of them went in, but we were following up with rebounds to create further opportunity. After halfway through the first quarter we subbed the whole team with the intent of picking up the energy and creating opportunities for more of the team to achieve the goals set at the start.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was 21-5 to PNBHS. the message at the break was for all players to back themselves when taking a shot. Show more assertion and determination for the shot. The score was irrelevant. A perfect result was not the goal, it was simply about not being afraid to make a good decision - the desired result will come with practice.

The second quarter certainly brought more energy and every player appeared to drive harder and create opportunities for the shot. The first half of the quarter was consistent with our intent, but towards the end of the half we appeared to become a little complacent, and consequently, less driven. The score at the half was 46 - 21.

Tighter defense was the order for the third quarter. We certainly squeezed our opposition more and wore the shock clock down on defense on a number of occasions. By the end of the third, we had conceded 13 points and the score was 68 - 34.

To finish the game we still wanted our 3 goals as a focus, but to also make sure we enjoyed the game we were playing and continue trying things. We put in a solid quarter and finished the game out 86 - 47
