Congratulations to Gateway students Hayden Bell and Mitch Hodgson who have just completed the first section of their Motor Industry Training Organistion (MITO) apprenticeship paperwork and were presented with MITO certificates to recognise this at assembly this morning.  This micro-credential is comprised of eight unit standards, of which six were theory based and two were practical based.  Successful completion here has not only resulted in Hayden and Mitch achieving 20 NCEA credits but it has also reduced their automotive apprenticeships by three months.

Both students have now advanced onto the second section of their apprenticeship paperwork again comprising a combination of both theory and practical components.  Successful completion of this section will also result in Hayden and Mitch once again achieving a substantial number of NCEA credits as well as completing a further three months off their automotive apprenticeship.

Hayden’s Gateway placement has been with The Engine Room and he is hoping to secure an apprenticeship position at the end of the year.  Mitch has been offered an apprenticeship with Eurocar Suzuki, who he had his gateway placement with, and is likely to begin this next week.
