The PlaceMakers PNBHS 1st XI travelled to Whanganui to play the Athletic club. The pitch was heavy after a long spell of wet weather, but the sun shone, making it a great day for Football. Unfortunately, PNBHS lost the fixture 3-1.

Missing a few key players PNBHS started the fixture with vigour. Their intentions few apparent from the start, holding the ball for the first six minutes of the game and making two attempts at scoring within this time. It seemed to be one of those days where finishing was not a strong point, as further attempts were high, wide, or palmed away by the Whanganui keeper. Brooklyn Browne secured the ball at the other end arresting the attacking efforts of Whanganui, but on the turn of play, the PNBHS defence was left exposed, and Whanganui went ahead, scoring again soon after.

Fighting back, PNBHS made every effort to overcome the deficit, however, it was not their day. Whanganui ran in another goal after PNBHS lost possession playing out from the back. Substitutes brought fresh legs and hopes for PNBHS, with Mohammad Tamin attempting a volleying aerial effort, however, it not coming off. The post was hit several times more before Daniel McDougall put PNBHS on the board in the 70th minute. It was too little, too late, as the referee ended the match.
