Congratulations to Year 12 student Maraki Aumua, who has been selected for the New Zealand Cavaliers Sevens team that will compete in the World School Sevens Tournament. The tournament has been running since 2016 and is an international U18 sevens rugby event with more than 30 teams from Japan, Canada, USA, Australia, Fiji, Vanuatu and New Zealand. However, the 2021 tournament is now to be played in January 2022 and will feature only New Zealand based teams due to the Covid19 travel restrictions currently in place.

He has also been selected for the U18 Wellington Boys Touch team to play in the 2022 Bunnings National Youth Touch Championship in Christchurch, the Manawatū Open Men’s Touch team to play in the 2022 Bunnings National Touch Championship, 3rd - 6th March in Palmerston North and the inaugural Central Stingrays Open Men’s Touch team to play in the New Zealand Premier Touch League (PTL).  The Stingrays franchise includes all six regions within the central area; Taranaki, Whanganui, Hawkes Bay, Manawatū, Horowhenua/Kāpiti and Wellington.  The PTL competition runs over three weekends and will take place in 2022 due to Covid19 disruptions.
