The clay target shooters had a ‘friendly’ pre-season shoot at Feilding Gun Club on Saturday. The concept of the day was to create an enjoyable, relaxed, and non-threatening start to the season and an introduction to team shooting. However, two trophies were up for grabs. The Manawatu Secondary Schools trophy ( which had recently re-surfaced ) and the Wood Family Challenge Cup ( donated by recent old boys and FGC member Greg Wood to acknowledge the ‘friendly’ competition between PNBHS and FGC ).

PNBHS comfortably retained the School trophy. Unfortunately, our good friends from New Plymouth Boys’ High School were struck down with covid, so could not attend. It was great to see Feilding High School compete for the first time in many years. We look forward to seeing them develop as the season progresses.

The ‘old dogs’ at Feilding Gun Club ( including Greg himself and staff member Mr. Higgie ) managed to narrowly win the Wood Family Trophy. This was only the second time in 10 years that the club has bettered the PNBHS team. We must acknowledge the generous support of school shooting made by the FGC committee. They donated $100 cash and a slab of ammo to each of the local school teams.
