Covid-19 Update

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The announcement today that New Zealand is to move from Red to Orange in the Covid ‘traffic light’ settings from 11.59pm tonight is pleasing news and a further sign that we are moving beyond the peak of Omicron cases.

The Ministry of Education has advised schools that they should keep the current rules around the wearing of facemasks until the end of the term so that there is an opportunity for school health and safety plans to be reviewed.  This means that for tomorrow, Thursday April 14, facemasks will be compulsory for all students, staff and visitors while inside school buildings.  We will review the Ministry of Education advice and our health and Safety plans during the school holidays and advise our community of the updated information for term two.

Over the last two weeks we have noticed a steady decline in the number of young men who are testing positive for Covid-19 and the number who are required to isolate.  Likewise, there has been a decline in the number of staff members who are testing positive or who are household contacts.  This is further encouraging news as we begin preparations for a greater degree of normality in term two.

Thank you again to everyone in our community for your support during a challenging term.  I hope that your whanau are able to enjoy a restful Easter holiday break.

Yours faithfully,

D M Bovey
