Red Cross Book Sale - Volunteers required to help on Sunday, 29th May 2022

Every year, Red Cross will display thousands of books, DVDs, jigsaws, board games, and more for public purchase during the annual Red Cross book sale.

Months before the four-day sale, elderly volunteers from around the city come together to sort through those donated items and pack them into empty banana boxes.

Once again, PNBHS has been approached by the organising committee to supply the workforce to lift, load and move hundreds of boxes from 200 Church Street (the REaD Red Cross Bookshop on the corner of Cook Street and Church Street) to Barber Hall.

Community service is an excellent way of contributing and participating, and students can use this event to support their Barrowclough Award application.

There will be two shifts; one from 9 am – 12 pm and one from 1 pm - 4 pm. Volunteers can choose one or both to help this worthwhile cause. Volunteers will meet at the REaD Red Cross Bookshop at the start of their shift(s). As usual, a registration sheet is in the Leadership window of the Student Support Centre and an information sheet with a parental permission slip that needs to be completed and returned.

The service by these volunteers, and our schools continued support, are greatly appreciated by the Red Cross volunteers and their community.
