Congratulations to the U14 B Rugby team who won the final of the Youth 2 grade on Saturday, defeating the Junior 5 team 26 – 25 in an epic encounter. Well done to all of the players and coaches from both teams for their hard work and commitment throughout the season.
In 2022 PNBHS Rugby teams featured in the semi-finals of every grade in which we had teams entered in the Manawatū Secondary Schools competition with eight teams appearing in finals. The U16 Development team won the Premier 1 grade defeating the Feilding High School 2nd XV 34 - 19 in the final. In the Premier 2 Development grade the U15 Colts team defeated Manukura 59 – 5 in the final. The 5th XV took out the Premier 3 grade, defeating the Freyberg High School 1st XV 55 – 7.
The U15 Colts B team finished second in the Youth 1 grade, losing narrowly in the final 5 – 8 to the Whanganui Collegiate U15 A side. The Youth 3 grade saw the PNBHS Junior 7 side claim victory over the PNBHS Junior 6 side 19 -10 in a keenly contested match that entertained the large crowd in attendance.
Well done to all of the young men who pulled on their boots for the 2022 season. Regardless of the level you played at or where your team finished, we hope that you enjoyed the season and are already looking forward to 2023. Thank you to all of our coaches and managers – without your time and commitment we would not be able to offer these opportunities to our young men. Thank you also to the many whānau and other supporters who were on the sidelines each week to cheer on our teams. At a time when youth sport attracts much negative attention because of poor sideline behaviour and referee abuse, it is refreshing to see the positive manner in which our community generally supports our teams.
