Tīhei Manu Kōrero!

The Regional Ngā Manu Kōrero Speech Contest was held at the Regent on Broadway on Monday 12th June. Year 11 students Ihaka Rapira and Rakena Te Awe Awe Mohi both represented Palmerston North Boys’ High School in the Pei Te Hurinui Jones Section (Senior Māori). Rakena presented his topic on Me tiaki i te wairua o te tangata ahakoa ko wai, while Ihaka spoke on Nā wai i kī he mātanga reo Māori koe? Ihaka was placed 2nd overall in the Pei Te Hurinui Jones Section.

I would like to acknowledge our whānau and extended whānau who supported the two students in preparing them for the contest.

Congratulations to the following schools who will represent the Manawatū/Horowhenua regions in Otago next term:

Pei Te Hurinui Jones (Senior Māori) - Manukura 

Te Korimako (Senior English) - Freyberg

Rawhiti Ihaka (Junior Māori) - Te Wharekura o Manawatū

Tā Timi Kara (Junior English) - Palmerston North Girls’ High School
