The Year 10 Specials Cricket team travelled to Feilding for the Secondary A T20 competition final, the McVicar Cup, against Feilding High School 1st XI. We won the toss, chose to bat and got off to a good start putting the bad ball away and running well between the wickets on a slow outfield. This continued throughout the innings and a competitive total was posted against an accurate Feilding bowling attack. Year 10 specials 114/6 (Cooper Jones 29, Lachie Whitley 27).
An excellent start with the ball from Rian Hocken and Logan Garrett pushed the required run rate over seven early in the innings. Some inaccuracy in the middle overs allowed Feilding to find the boundary and they got back into the game. Two dropped catches and some sloppy fielding shifted the momentum towards Feilding and the game was in the balance. Feilding required 6 runs to win off the last over and Nate Davis held them to just four with an outstanding last over. Feilding 113/7 (Rian Hocken 1/11 off 4, Logan Garrett 1/15 off 4).
Congratulations to the Year 10 Specials for an excellent win. Captain Zach Vining presented the McVicar Cup to the school at assembly this morning.
