During the recent holidays 27 young men and 3 staff traveled to Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland on the Commerce Trip. The aim of the trip was to encourage the young men to dream big, see what is possible and provide them with some insights into possible career or study options.
In Melbourne the boys visited Monash University and Vend before spending the day with Old Boy Bart Campbell at the Melbourne Storm talking about leadership. They also had an opportunity to talk to young rich-lister Matthew Tripp. The boys also toured the city of Melbourne and caught up with a number of Old Boys at an Old Boys dinner.
After Melbourne the group flew to Sydney. While in Sydney they visited Sydney University, Google Australia, Microsoft, QANTAS and completed a Business Challenge with Old Boy Simon Phillips. They again toured Sydney and attended another Old Boys dinner on Darling Harbour.
In Auckland the group spent a day at the Auckland University Business School and the Management Consulting Club with Old Boys Seamus Barnett and Bill Konmode. The group then spent a day with Ewan Westergaard from Craig's Investment Partners including a visit to the ANZ trading floor before finishing the tour with a dinner in the Sky Tower Restaurant.
The tour was a fantastic success. The young men involved met some inspirational people and we would like to extend our thanks to all the people that made the trip possible.
