At assembly this morning cricket awards and caps were presented to members of the 1st XI Cricket team.  Ordinarily these are awarded at the Sports and Cultural Prizegiving.  However, the 1st XI will be playing in the national secondary schools cricket finals, the Gillette Cup, and will miss prizegiving.  Awards presented this morning:

Young Cup – Butler Cup Cricket, Batting Award - Mason Hughes

Leighton Trophy – Butler Cup Batting Award, Most meritorious innings - Mason Hughes (187 retired)

Retemeyer Brothers Trophy - Most meritorious innings - Mason Hughes

(75 v Francis Douglas Memorial College in the central Districts Gillette Cup qualification final)

McSweeny Cup - For Fielding - Whetu na Nagara (24 catches 8 stumpings)

Batting Cup -Whetu na Nagara (725 runs, av 29)

Hewer Trophy – Best Bowling Performance - Braden Rowe (5 for 65 v Auckland Grammar School)

Bowling Cup - Braden Rowe (41 wickets, av 10.76)

Best All-Rounder Cup - Floyd na Nagara (392 runs, av 18.67, 26 wickets, av 15.96

Greg Malcolm Memorial Trophy - Most Improved Player - Jack Lord

Alec Astle Cup - Determination, Commitment and Dedication to the Team and Game - Isaac Harris, Bradley Fulton

Nobby Anderson Memorial Trophy - Greatest Contribution to Cricket - Tom O’Connor

Tom O'Connor was awarded with a presentation box for his cricket cap in recognition of his 75 1st XI caps, an outstanding achievement.
