Last year we won a competition with Rugby News / Rugby.kiwi for a Wattbike. Thank you again to everyone who helped us win!

We have now received our Wattbike and the PE Department have been putting it to good use.

A report from our Director of Sport on how we can use the Wattbike here at school:

The Wattbike is a stationary cycle that can be easily set up to closely replicate riding outdoors and has the capability of being a highly useful testing and training tool.

For the most part our student athletes will opt to "just ride" and will receive information relavant to their input over that session. For the higher end athlete the bike can provide useful data relating to: left and right pedal power over a full revolution, power output over various time intervals and interact with most heart rate monitors to provide prescripted programmes based on the individuals capabilities.

Power is an enormously important attribute in most major sporting codes and with correct use the Wattbike can develop and improve this component.

Thanks Wattbike.
