1ST XI CRICKET REPORT 17/03/2018 - T20 VS FREYBERG

Bryn Wilson won the toss and elected to bat on a wicket which had been given extra life by overnight rain. The 1st XI batsmen made a bright start but were hauled back when the opposition bowlers found their length and wickets began to fall. A more considered approach stopped the rot and the middle and lower order made some solid contributions to take the total to 126 for 8 from the allotted 20 overs. Henry Deans scored 20 not out, Craig Lawrence 23 and Logan Love 24.

The PNBHS effort in the field started promisingly with 2 wickets by Rishabh De (2 for 15) in the second over. This was followed by a dangerous partnership which looked to be taking the game away. Until the introduction of spin, that is. Finn Martin weaved his magic and snared both in batsmen, finishing with figures of 3 for 14 from 4 overs. The rest of the bowlers then took over and with support from the field, limited the opposition to 122 for 8.

PNBHS won by four runs and took third place in the Senior Men’s T20 competition.
