The second week of softball saw the PNBHS development team join the competition, playing St Peters in the mixed senior grade. With some boys playing their first ever game and others with minimal experience, there was a lot of enthusiasm heading into the match. The team started extremely well, batting first and getting 8 home in the bottom of the first. In the field, the standard did not drop with St Peters unable to score in their first at bat. The second inning continued in the same manner with 9 more players home, taking the score to 17 -0 before retiring and putting St Peters back into bat. At the top of the second, St Peters managed to get 2 home before the boys added another 4 runs and retired again going into the top of the third. The best play from the field saw the boys end the game with a triple play, ending the innings and the game in the same manner as the senior team did last week with a mercy win and score of 21-2. The game included home runs hit from Doryin Warren (x3), Max Meads (x2), Blake Meads, Ryuga Matsubara, Lachlan Nikolajenko, Cody Mildenhall and Mat Hammond (x1)

Unfortunately, a late default to the Senior team meant that the players had arrived but had no game. Some initiative from the older students decided a mash up of players from both teams would get everyone a game and this then took place. This was good practise for all and experience for the new guys. It was great to see students from all year groups working together, playing hard and exemplifying the Boys’ High values. Well done to all involved.
