2nd XV v St Patrick's College, Silverstream
The 2nd XV travelled to St Pats Silverstream hoping to continue their good run of late. The game started evenly with both teams testing the opposition defence before Silverstream converted a penalty to take the lead. PNBHS then enjoyed a good spell of territory and possession but simple errors and a lack of urgency at the breakdown allowed Silverstream to contain them. A penalty levelled the score before another penalty to Silverstream gave them a 6-3 half-time lead.
Some stern words were exchanged at the half time drinks urging the boys to improve their skill execution and nail their roles.
Silverstream started the second half well. They chipped the ball in behind looking for space but some superb interplay from James Cameron, Carson Hepi and Reif Dawson saw them go 85m with Reif dotting down. This galvanised the 2nd XV and their pace improved. Good play by the forwards saw James Waterson dive over before Jakob Rauhihi-Collis sniped over for two scores. Silverstream responded before some superb ball handling created space and a good cut out ball from Carson Hepi saw Reif grab his second.
Silverstream scored a late try after some good attack but the 2nd XV secured another pleasing victory.
Final Score 20-34 to PNBHS.
