CRICKET REPORT: PNBHS 1ST XI VS Freyberg CC – 30/11/19
Batting first, the PNBHS top order struggled to come to terms with some accurate bowling and at 37 for 3 in the 16th over, some major rebuilding was required. The middle order managed to put some partnerships together, but wickets fell with monotonous regularity, with only Jack Wenham cobbling together an innings of any substance. The opener was the 8th man out and thereafter, only a 30-run partnership for the 9th wicket allowed the team to finish on 144 all out - 30-odd runs short of a defendable total. Wenham scored 56.
To their credit, the 1st XI made Freyberg work hard to chase down a sub-par score. The bowlers threatened and were backed up by some determined fielding. The players held their catches and applied pressure to scoop up 6 wickets as the opposition made their way to win by 4 wickets in the 45th over. Hugo Wakeling was the pick of the bowlers, with 2 for 16 from his 10.
