3rd XI Cricket v Marist

The 3rds played Marist one of the other teams yet to lose a game in the bottom 8 competition. The 3rds won the toss and elected to bat on what looked like a belter. Runs weren’t as easy to come by and at 23-2 off 12 overs it was slow going. Callum Kennett and Van Prenter built a 42 run partnership until a middle order collapse at 73-6 off 28 overs. Alec Strydom, Josh Langridge and Thomas Bell all had useful contributions as the 3rds managed 131-9 off their 40 overs. Van Prenter 41, Josh Langridge 22*.

Marist came out with intent and it wasn’t until Callum Kennett took a one handed catch diving above his head in the 13th over that the 3rds could break through with the score on 69. With the start that Marist made 131 was never going to be enough and they got there 4 wickets down in 22.2 overs. Alec Strydom, Josh Langridge, Ethan Campbell and Mr Vindriis shared the wickets between them. A loss by 6 wickets and the winning streak ends at 6 games.
