PNBHS 1st XI vs Feilding CC – 14/03/20

The playoff for 5th and 6th place in the MCA 2-day Competition was played in the 100-over format by mutual agreement.

Curtis Heaphy won the toss and elected to bat first on the PNBHS No 1 field. The top order struggled against some tight bowling and following a wicket in the 2nd over, some starts were made, only to be snuffed out. Heaphy received some support from the lower middle order to give the score some substance as he made his way to his second century of the year. This allowed the 1st XI to advance to a score of 183 for 8 when the enforced declaration arrived after 55 overs. Curtis Heaphy notched up 100 not out in a perfectly timed knock.

The Boys’ High bowling effort started brightly, with a wicket from the second ball of the innings. This trend continued, with the bowlers on top and wickets falling regularly. The Feilding lower order offered some resistance but eventually succumbed to be 105 all out. Charlie Lourie took 2 for 22, Jett Donald-Charnley 2 for 12 and Thomas Kirk 3 for 16.

An 80-run victory means that the PNBHS 1st XI finished the 2-day season in 5th place.
