1st XI Hockey v Paraparaumu College

Friday 5 June

The 1st XI Hockey team opened its season with a pre-season match against Paraparaumu College on Friday evening.
The match started in a fashion typical of an early-season game with basic mistakes and poor execution a prominent feature. The 1st XI found themselves down 0 - 1 at the end of the first quarter after Paraparaumu College scored off an early penalty corner.

PNBHS was able to equalise in the second quarter with a goal from Blake Rhodes-Robinson. This was followed by a Zac Buinimasi goal from a penalty corner variation. PNBHS would start the second half leading 2 - 1.
PNBHS started the second half with more structure and started piecing together some pleasing play. Another goal from Zac Buinimasi was followed by Malaki Masoe finding the back of the net, giving PNBHS a commanding 4 -1 lead heading into the final quarter.

The match opened up in the final 15 minutes and saw PNBHS score three more goals from Malaki Masoe, Hael Pritchard, and Finn O'Malley. The final result of the match was a 7 - 1 win to PNBHS 1st XI.

This was an excellent first hit-out for the 1st XI as they head into competition matches. The next game is another pre-season encounter against Whanganui Collegiate at 6.00 pm on Friday, 12 June, at the Twin Turfs.
