1st XI Football v Takaro AFC

Saturday 6 June

Placemakers PNBHS 1st XI played Takaro FC, winning 9 – 3.  After a long lockdown period, and relishing online learning, the 1st XI were excited about the start of the season and were “rearing to go”.  Boys’ High started well, dominating both territory and possession early in the match.  A through ball by captain, Mason Charlton found Jaiden Meyer in space who put the ball into the back of the net, giving Boys' High the lead after 10 minutes.  Within a minute of the restart, Ben Mori scored, closely followed by Joey Thomas, putting the team into a comfortable 3 nil lead.  However, Takaro FC were still in the game, and their efforts were rewarded with a penalty which was converted.  However, Boys’ High quickly got back into “their strides” with Ben Mori and Jaiden Meyer punishing the Takaro defence and extending the lead into the break.

After half time, Boys’ High continued their momentum with Ben Mori gaining a well-deserved hat-trick.  Daniel McDougall and Ryan Watson also got onto the score sheet to complete a very satisfying performance.  Of note, Aadesh Ganugapati, Alex King, and Ryan Watson made their debuts for the 1st XI.

The 1st XI would like to thank our sponsors Placemakers Palmerston North and JG Residential.
