From
Thursday until Sunday last week, 13 of the schools swimmers competed with
distinction at the New Zealand Secondary School Swimming Championships held in
Hamilton.
For swimmers the measure of performance is personal best times and the team had
plenty. Of the 87 individual events that were swum by PNBHS swimmers, 83 were
personal best times. Some by as much as 15 seconds. The team also managed a
total of 30 top 10 individual results and 8 top 10 relay results. Overall the
team finished as the 3rd highest points scoring Boys’ school.

Alex Odom: 1st 15-year-old 50m Backstroke

15-year-old 200m Backstroke
Alex broke his own school records in both the 50m Backstroke and the 50m
Freestyle twice at the meet. In addition Alex claimed the school records in
both the 100m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke taking a massive 3 and a half
seconds off the previous backstroke mark.

Cole Phillips: 3rd 15-year-old 200m Breaststroke
Alex Willis equaled the school record in the 13 year old 50m Freestyle
Levi Holman broke the school record in the 15 year old 50m Freestyle
The 15 and Under A Relay team of Alex Odom, Ian Tsui, Alex Willis and Cole
Phillips won Silver medals in both the 4x50m Medley Relay and in the 4x50m
Freestyle Relay. The 15 and Under B Team finished 7th and 8th
respectively in the same events, highlighting how strong our junior swimmers
are.
