Smallbore Shooting

Smallbore Rifle Shooting is a competitive sport that involves shooting .22 calibre long barrel target rifles. When first starting off, shooters will learn to shoot on a support. This is where the rifle is rested on a wooden box and the shooter only has to aim down the sights. Once ‘rest’ shooters are consistently shooting good scores (i.e. are able to demonstrate breathing, trigger pull, and picture sighting control) they will be encouraged to learn to shoot using a sling.

Smallbore is available to all students and is held on Wednesdays from 4pm at the MSRA Range at Totara Road. Students will need to make their own way to the range.

Shooting will commence on the 24th March (week 8, Term 1) and will finish on the 25th August (week 5, Term 3) but students can start in Term 2 if they have a clash with another code.

All the equipment required (including use of MRSA target rifles), consumables (ammunition and targets), and range hire is included in the flat fee of $165.

In order to participate you must register by making payment to the Finance office.
