This year, the 40 Hour
Challenge is being held from the 21st to the 23rd of June which gives us just
under a month to prepare and start our fundraising.
Even though the 40 Hour Challenge is in three weeks, it’s important to start fundraising as soon as possible because on the 12th to 14th of June, Sanitarium is hosting a bank day on which they will be doubling whatever amount of money we have by then.
This year our focus country is East Timor where the money will be used to plant trees and climate-proof their villages.
Our goal as a school is to raise $20,000. This may seem like a large number but this is achievable if everyone donates just $11 to a great cause.
This is also a great opportunity to earn citizenship points for your Barrowclough programme.
Some ideas to get you thinking are: 40 hours no furniture, 40 hours no technology or 40 hours no cutlery.
Stay tuned in to the notices as you will be hearing more about this opportunity, how you can help, and some cool prizes along the way.
Thank you to Mrs. Power who presented this week's book review at assembly on Wednesday. She reviewed the Artemis Fowl series - Fowl Adventures - written by Eoin Colfer. All 11 books in the Fowl Adventures series are available in the PNBHS Library and are very popular.
At assembly this morning Matthew Wongchoti encouraged students considering university as their destination in 2025 to begin the application process for scholarships (see Mr. Barwick, the Careers Advisor for assistance if necessary), and Nicolas Verry spoke about Men’s Health Week and encouraged our young men to have conversations about their health – physical and mental – and that of the males in their lives. Leo Mwape gave an update on the World Vision 40 Hour Famine (use this link to register - https://my.worldvision.org.nz/ss/zKSyRD/palmerston-north-boys-high-school ) and announced an upcoming 3-point shooting competition fundraiser and Charlie Cottrill presented this week’s movie review.
