Attention Junior 5 and 6 Rugby Trialists:

Due to staff meetings, today's muster to announce the teams at 3:40 PM at Coronation Park Field 1 has been cancelled.

The team lists for tomorrow's trial games will be posted on the Leadership Director's office window at the start of interval tomorrow.

Brodie Bennett

Congratulations to Brodie Bennett, who was selected in the New Zealand Squash team for the Trans-Tasman competition that took place in Hamilton during the April school holidays. Brodie competed in the U17 grade. Unfortunately, Australia took the win. Prior to the Trans-Tasman competition, Brodie competed in the Oceania Championships, where he finished fourth in the U17 grade.

Orienteering

Over Anzac weekend a small group of PNBHS students competed in the North Island Secondary Schools Orienteering Championships hosted by Counties Manukau Orienteering Club.

Competing in the Senior Boy’s Grade (Year 12/13 students) were Cooper Robinson (Yr12) and Jakob Abernethy (Yr 12) and in the Junior Boy's Grade (Year 9 students) were Ben Sheppard, Hugo Skerman and Tom Transom.

The boys raced very well over three days in very challenging conditions and gained multiple top 10 placings. A special mention to Hugo Skerman's first place in the Junior Championship Long event and Cooper Robinson's first place in the Senior Standard Long event.

Due to the team's good performance over the championships, they gained first place in the Boys’ Small Schools’ Competition (for schools with five or fewer competitors) by a considerable margin and fourth place in the Top Schools’ Competition (which is for schools with a large number of competitors). A great achievement for the team.

Book Review

Thank you to Year 10 student Ethan Scott, who presented the first book review for term two in assembly this morning. Ethan reviewed The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner. The Maze Runner series is popular among students and is available from the PNBHS Library https://library.pnbhs.school.nz/#!dashboard

Book Bingo weekly draws for a canteen voucher will resume next week. A reminder to get your completed forms checked off by the librarians.
