Year 12 student Jack Cowle participated in the New Zealand Piping Band Summer School in Wellington at the start of the year, and now he has been sponsored into the reciprocal Piping Hot Summer Drummer over the upcoming holidays to be held at Silver Star Mountain Resort in Vernon, Canada. Congratulations to Felix O’Neill, who has been selected in the New Zealand team to compete in the World Taekwondo Championship in Croatia in October.  Felix will compete in the U65kg Junior Sparring and Junior Males Patterns categories.

Good luck to the 1st XI Football team, who are playing in the final of the Super Eight tournament against Hamilton Boys' High School. The match kicks off at 12.30pm and will be livestreamed via the link below.

The Big Sing Regional Festival was held last Thursday, with 14 choirs taking part. PNBHS was represented by three groups – the ‘allcomers’ SOAP (Son of a Pitch) Choir, Te Aitanga a Tāne (senior Kapa Haka students) and MANifesto. All three groups performed with distinction and were Highly Commended. SOAP received the award for Best New Zealand Work, Aitanga a Tāne received the award for Best Song in Te Reo and the Spirit of the Festival award, and MANifesto were first equal in the Own Choice category. Congratulations to MANifesto choir, who have been selected to compete in The Big Sing Finale will be held at the Dunedin Town Hall from Thursday, 28 August to Saturday, 30 August.
